JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated person to support students and families in navigating the college application process, with a particular focus on those interested in studying abroad. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, have strong communication skills, and provide administrative and logistical support to the College Counseling team while also directly assisting students throughout their college application journey.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Student and Family Support: Assist students and their families with understanding and navigating the college admission process for international studies (undergraduate programs, summer programs).
- Application Guidance: Provide assistance to students in creating and refining their college lists, preparing application materials (personal statements, essays, etc.).
- Essay Feedback: Offer feedback on college application essays, ensuring they align with university expectations and effectively highlight students' strengths.
- University Relations: Maintain relationships with international universities and their representatives visiting the country, providing students with relevant opportunities and information.
- Faculty Coordination: Help students manage faculty recommendation letters and ensure all forms and documents are submitted to the appropriate institutions.
- Admissions Database and Records: Maintain and update student records in the counseling office’s database, ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of all information.
- Event Coordination: Assist in organizing college-related events, including workshops, open houses, campus tours, and virtual events, ensuring a smooth and informative experience for students and families.
- Counseling Materials: Prepare presentations, materials (e.g., PowerPoint), and other resources for counseling sessions and workshops.
- Document Translation: Translate materials (Portuguese-English / English-Portuguese) to assist students, faculty, and families in the application process.
- Attendance Tracking: Track attendance at college-related workshops and activities.
- Communication: Respond to student, family and university representative inquiries via email, phone, or in-person, providing timely and helpful information regarding the college counseling process, application requirements and events.
- Organizational Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the counseling team, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, and managing appointments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly college counseling or admissions, is a plus.
- Languages: Fluent in English (oral and written), with strong communication skills in both English and Portuguese.
Tech Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google tools (Docs, Sheets), and familiarity with admissions software or database systems.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and educational professionals.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines effectively.
- Customer Service: A genuine passion for helping students and families navigate the college application process with care and professionalism.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to understand and respect diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences, particularly in the context of international education.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a team environment, while also being able to work independently when required.
- Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail, particularly ensuring the accuracy of student application materials.
OBSERVATION:
This position may require occasional evening and weekend work during peak college application periods.
The person will work primarily in an office environment but may need to travel to events or schools as needed.
WORK SCHEDULE: Availability to work 40 hours per week.
WORK LOCATION: South Zone, Moema (São Paulo).
